From very early, Gustavo Ximu showed great interest in martial arts and even before writing his own name there were already signs that he would be a champion. At the age of four Gustavo started to practice judo. At 10 came into contact with “capoeira” and then devoted himself with passion to Thai boxing.
At 16 Gustavo had his first job an office boy in the company values in the center of Rio de Janeiro. At that time, Ximu divided himself between work during the day and hard practice at night.
In 2000 Gustavo´s debut in the ring of international Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) came to prove that his hard training routine was worthwhile. Gustavo defeated the Japanese Wataru Sakata in only a minute and a half round with an incredible knockout.
Part of one of the most appraised Mixed Martial Arts teams in the country, Gracie Barra, located in Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Ximu brings beautiful victories in his resume that highlighted his name on the international scene of the fighting scenario.
In his career as a professional fighter Gustavo Ximu won several titles:
- Vice-champion of Muay thai Rio (1996)
- English boxing champion from Rio (1996)
- State Winner of Muay thai (1997)
- Champion of Rio low kick (1997)
- Champion's Cup to fight AABB-Submission (1998)
- Vice-champion of the Copa Budokan Submission (1998)
- Champion of Rio Copa Budokan IX of Submission up to 90 kg (1999)
- Interstate champion the Submission for teams (2000)
